Nathan Road, originally named Robinson Road, was renamed after Governor Sir Matthew Nathan to avoid confusion with Robinson Road on Hong Kong Island. Now known as the "Golden Mile," it attracts tourists to its numerous shops and hotels. Before the 1960s, Tsim Sha Tsui was a tranquil area with low-rise buildings, trees, and a few cinemas and hotels, unlike the bustling and polluted place it is today.
