On April 3, 1973, Martin Cooper, an engineer at the US firm Motorola, made the first call from a mobile device, dubbed DynaTAC. Ten years later, Motorola started selling the DynaTAC 8000X in the United States for a cool US$3,995. Nicknamed “the brick”, it weighed about a kilo and measured 33cm.
